Coplay: Saengerbund sets events for holidays

The heritage committee at Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., has upcoming events planned.

A Mardi Gras Lumpenball (Bum’s Ball) is set for 3-6 p.m. Feb. 27. Emil Schanta Band will entertain.

A St. Patrick’s Day event will be 3-6 p.m. March 13, with music by John and Marie. The O’Grady Quinlan Academy dancers will make a guest appearance 4 p.m.

Coplay Sports is holding sign-ups 6-8 p.m. March 2 and noon-2 p.m. March 5 for the 2022 baseball season for ages 5-15. Sign-ups are at the Coplay Sports field house, 666 Potter Terrace.

American Club of Coplay is planning a dance night featuring Common Bond March 4 at the pavilion, 300 Cherry St.

Doors open 5 p.m., and Common Bond performs 7-10 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at the club, 32 N. Third St. Ticket price is reduced if bought in advance.

The soup, bread and discussion program restarts 6-7 p.m. March 9 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.

This fellowship event features a simple soup and bread meal and a discussion of current events.

St. John’s is holding a baked ziti dinner for pickup that includes a salad, applesauce, dinner roll and dessert March 19.

Commitment to Family and Community officially closes its doors at the end of February.

The group has served Coplay since 1955 at its location at 165 Cherry St. Originally the Coplay Fire Company social hall, the site transitioned to the CFC around 2004.
