Dries Hardware Store will have a new neighbor at 3500 Brookside Road.
During the Feb. 17 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, a conditional use hearing was held for Grist Mill Development for the two building, 44 apartment structures.
Presently, the area is a field that had been, at one time, for farm usage. It is a 100-year flood plain.
Besides the two buildings, the area will also have a common amenity area, a dog run, 88 regular parking spaces with 22 reserve parking spaces and a gazebo.
Discussion was tabled for a later date.
Resolution 2022-09 was approved. This allows for the township manager to sign certain Pennsylvania Department of Transportation forms to electronically submit highway occupancy permit applications.
Resolution 2022-10 was approved allowing for traffic signal modification at the intersection of Hamilton Boulevard, Minesite and Schantz roads. This is in conjunction with sidewalk installation and will allow a push button for pedestrian crossing.
Applicants were approved for the volunteer service earned income tax credit.
Erica Dreabit was appointed to the library board with a term to expire Jan. 31, 2025.
The athletic director at Emmaus High School, Rebecca George, requested the annual use of the Church Lane baseball fields. This was approved but it was also mentioned there are ongoing talks about a long-term agreement over usage of the fields.
