Feb. 23

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold its weekly food distribution 2-4 p.m. consisting of bread, baked goods and other free items. Participants also will receive two bags of pre-packed groceries.

Feb. 24

The Upper Milford Historical Society’s meeting will feature a presentation titled “The Days of the Perkiomen Railroad” 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Old Zionsville. Attendees will learn about the founding and early days of the railroad, its merger with the Reading Railroad and more.

The Emmaus Garden Club will meet noon at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. The program will be ”All Things Turf” by John Chassard, grounds director at Lehigh Country Club. Come hear John talk about organic/integrated pest management approaches to turf grass at Lehigh Country Club. Attendees will learn solutions to lawn care challenges. Guests are always welcome. The Alburtis Sportmen’s Flea Market will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alburtis Area Community Center, 220 W. Second St., Alburtis. Items offered include new and used fishing, hunting and trapping equipment as well as collectibles and antiques. Free vintage lure appraisals also will be conducted. Breakfast will be served until 10 a.m. Lunch will be served 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit Alburtis Boy Scout Troop and Cub Pack 86. Coronation of Irish King and Queen at Agricultural Hall Annex 7:30-11:30 p.m. This family friendly event features the crowning of the King and Queen of the 63rd St. Patrick’s Parade. Live entertainment, bag pipers, step dancers provide genuine Irish flavor leading up to the crowning ceremony.

Richter Mobile Shredding will be in the North Lot, near the Garden Center, ready to shred personal documents. Richter is a member of the National Association for Document Destruction. The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host the 22nd annual used book sale April 22 and 23 at Lower Macungie Middle School, 6299 Lower Macungie Road, Lower Macungie Township. A preview night for members of the Friends of the Emmaus Public Library is scheduled 6 to 8 p.m. April 22. The public sale will be held 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The popular brown bag blow out sale, where book lovers can fill a brown grocery bag, will be held 3 to 3:45 p.m. There is a cost for the bag. A nutrition health and safety fair will be held 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
