NOTRE DAME NEWS-A Seasonal Change-By Michael Hodgskins
After the conclusion of 2021, the Notre Dame family can proudly look back at all of the fun activities and events we have done so far. But with the beginning of 2022, the Notre Dame family is bringing many more upcoming announcements and projects that we have planned to make this year even more exciting than the last.
After a very successful and exhilarating winter season filled with victories by our wrestling team, swimming team and boys and girls basketball teams, the winter season is finally coming to a close and we are preparing for the exciting arrival of spring sports. Baseball, softball, tennis, track and field and lacrosse are just a few of the teams that we will see playing starting March 7 – the snow on our fields finally being replaced by athletes.
Sports isn’t the only thing that will be returning; it will come back alongside the seasonal play, which will be “Beauty and The Beast,” presented by our hardworking Notre Dame Theater Company. The last play we had was “Miracle on 34th Street,” way back in November, so we will finally be able to see our wonderful cast and crew return from behind the curtains.
Another event on our calendar is Kairos, a student-led retreat from March 8 to 11 where students are to focus on themselves, their journey thus far in their life, and aspects of themselves that have not yet been explored that might prepare them for adulthood.
Another addition to these celebrations that has been over 20 years in the making is an actual addition: the auditorium that is currently being built on to our school. From now on, school plays, band performances, concerts and even Mass will all be held in the new auditorium.
We won’t have to worry about uncomfortably cramming all of our students into the gym for a monthly Mass or Honor Society inductions. Once the addition of Notre Dame’s Auditorium is finished, we will finally be able to accommodate the walls of the new building comfortably.
As you can see, the winds of winter are finally beginning to fade and the fresh spring air will be emerging soon, bringing all of these exciting activities and ceremonies to the surface with it.
We are looking forward to a more calm and peaceful future, where the dust of the crazy past two years is finally beginning to settle. The shift of the seasons will mark our school’s change to slowly but surely return to normalcy. A change that has been very much needed and a change that we all here at Notre Dame have been looking forward to for the longest time. A seasonal change.
