The opportunity was spearheaded by one of the seventh grade students on the team. The 14 members of the team are seventh and eighth grade students who applied for a position in the club. Students went through an interview process and auditioned if they wanted to be on air. The studio, located in the school library, was made possible through a donation from Service Electric cable television company. The purpose of the club is to instruct students about broadcast journalism, allowing them to learn how to set up, produce and broadcast a daily student produced news show, according to a media post by the school.
