Nancy Anne Leibensperger
Nancy Anne (Weida) Leibensperger, 91, died Feb. 9, 2022, in hospice care surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born and raised in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Violet (Iobst) Weida, who were instrumental in her love of dance and music.
She was the editor of the Emmaus High School newspaper and secretary of the Class of 1948. She participated in EHS plays, enjoyed tap dancing and in later years Arthur Murray dance classes.
She was the first president and founding member of the Lower Macungie Historical Society, notably instrumental in saving and moving the Wescosville log cabin located in front of Costco.
She put her time and passion into the East Texas playground and ladies auxiliary. She was instrumental in raising money by selling “shares” of gazebo souvenir stock in order to realize her dream of building the East Texas Gazebo. The gazebo was completed and dedicated just in time for the 1976 bicentennial celebration and remains a beautiful village landmark. In addition, she played a large part in many other historical accomplishments as a member of the Emmaus, Macungie, and Shelter House historical societies.
She is survived by Ray; their children, Anne, of East Texas, Russ (Donna), of Zionsville, Lynn Roth (Jack), of Wescosville; grandchildren, Amanda (Joe) DeMarco, Adam (Cory), Brian (Catherine) Roth, Matthew (Maggie) Roth; great-grandchildren, Anna, Laura and Katie Roth; a brother-in-law, Bob; nephews, Allen, John and Kurt and their families; numerous cousins from both her Iobst and Weida lineage; caregivers, Grace and Erwin Pedroso and their son, Johann; special helper for 25 years, Colleen Ecker. She was predeceased by a brother and sisters-in-law, Paul and Madlyn Haines and Donna (Ohio) and “sister” Leanna (Burian) Lehman.
