Mary Krause

Mary Krause, 85, of Emmaus, died Feb. 8, 2022, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ronald W. Krause. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Harry and Lubov (Dubrowsky) Scheltzer.

She was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1954.

She and her husband owned and operated one of the first Honda motorcycle and automobile dealerships in the United States; Krause Motorcycle Sales and Krause Honda Ltd in Emmaus from 1959 to 1985.

She was a founding investor and director of the former East Penn Bank, Emmaus. She also was a co-founder of Keystone Motorcycle Club. She was a finalist in the 1956 AMA female motorcyclist of the year.

She was a licensed notary in Pennsylvania and was a former member of Lehigh Country Club.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling during their retirement, which included residing in Mainz, Germany, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Hilton Head, S.C. and traveling with their motor coach.

She is survived by daughters: Colleen and her husband, Gerald Straw, of Jacksonville, Fla., Doreen and her husband, J. Michael Lane, of Bakersfield, Calif., Darlene Krause-Clemence, of Neffs; a sister, Hannah Margetich, of Alexandria, Va., brothers, Paul Scheltzer and his wife, Karen, of Bethlehem, John Scheltzer, of Slatington; grandchildren, Jody Lane, Tammi, wife of Carlos Perez, Jared Clemence and his wife, Tarah, Colin Clemence, Kiri Clemence; great-grandchildren, Kayla Obee, Lane, Blake, Austin and Quinn Perez, Eleanor and Henry Clemence; a nephew, Billy Margetich; nieces, Kim Cressman, Dara Schlieker and Robin Florindi; great-nephews, Eric and Adam Miller, Cody and Corey Florindi, Tom and Ian Black; great-nieces Cara and her husband, Travis Wilson, Christine and her husband, Rory Levinson. She was predeceased by an infant son, Michael in 1961, a brother, Samuel Scheltzer, and a niece, Leanna Black.

Flowers may be sent or contributions may be made in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

A viewing will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 24 and 1 to 2 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
