Hokendauqua: Church collecting for WCHI

For the month of February, First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, 3005 S. Front St., is collecting oatmeal of any brand for Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative. A collection box for drop-offs is at the church Sunday mornings or during office hours, 9 a.m.-noon Mondays-Thursdays.

Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association is continuing registration for the upcoming baseball and softball season.

There will be two in-person sign-ups in the meeting room at Hokendauqua Fire Company, 3022 S. Second St.

Sign-ups are scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 26 and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 27.

In continuation of its Bob Warke-Dale Horn Scholarship program, HPPA will again be awarding two $1,000 scholarships.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a Class of 2022 high school-eligible graduate, be continuing your education in the fall of 2022, must have participated in HPPA’s baseball, softball or basketball youth programs and must complete the scholarship application form and return it to HPPA before Feb. 28.

The organization will review all the applications and select one girl and one boy to receive the scholarships at HPPA’s March or April meeting.
