George Speros Maniatty

George Speros Maniatty, 84, of Allentown, died peacefully Feb. 7, 2022, in his home.

He and his late wife, Elvira A. (Schildge) Maniatty, shared 56 years.

Born Aug. 5, 1937, in Barre, Vt., he was the son of the late Speros G. and Mamie R. (Renfrew) Maniatty.

He graduated valedictorian at Spaulding High School and went on to study mechanical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y., from which he graduated top of his class in 1959 and met the love of his life and future wife.

In 1969, he became the founding president of Precision Roll Grinders Inc.

Under his leadership, the company quickly grew a reputation for unparalleled technical expertise, capabilities and service.

Active in the life of his church, he was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Trexlertown, where he chaired the building committee that oversaw the church’s construction in 1977 and served in various other leadership roles over the years.

He was known for his intelligence and generosity. If ever there was a man who took his five talents to market and made five more, it was he.

He enjoyed playing tennis and spending time with family and friends.

His survivors include children George S. Jr. of Allentown, Dr. William A. Maniatty and his wife, Dr. Pilar Crespo, of Niskayuna, N.Y., Dr. Antoinette M. Maniatty and her husband, Dr. Kurt S. Anderson, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and Dr. John D. Maniatty and his wife, Brenda. of Snow Hill, Md.; grandchildren Dr. Fantasia M. Maniatty, John S. Maniatty, Justin J. Maniatty, Michaeline A. Anderson, Christian K. Anderson, Andrea E. Maniatty-Crespo and Adam G. Maniatty-Crespo.

He was predeceased by his brother William A. Maniatty in 2014.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 19 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 6667 Lower Macungie Road, Trexlertown, with the Rev. Donald J. Schaible II officiating. Masks are required.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday in the church.

Spreading of the cremated body will follow the service at St. Anne’s Memorial Garden.
