EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful family, including my mom, Cynthia and my older sister, Cammy.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is AP Biology, as I have a particular interest in learning about the intricacies of nature and how it impacts our daily lives. We have all seen the significance of overcoming obstacles through scientific means over the last two years, as well as the fact that biological knowledge should never be taken for granted.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. During my time at Emmaus, I have received numerous awards and special recognition including the Excellence in Biology Award, Excellence in Spanish Award, Excellence in Chemistry Award, Outstanding GPA Award, Principal’s Honor Roll, Student of the Month Award for Biology, Mock Trial Outstanding Witness Award, as well as being a part of National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. Currently, I am involved in numerous activities including being the treasurer of the Interact Club, the treasurer of the Red Cross Club, a Hornet Ambassador, a member of the Mock Trial Team and being part of a singing group.

During the pandemic, many planned activities were heavily impacted. For example, the Red Cross Club was unable to hold the annual blood drive and many in-person meetings and volunteer opportunities were either canceled or held virtually. Thankfully, through a lot of perseverance, dedication and cooperation, the clubs were able to continue to adapt to the evolving situation and fully function.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. In addition to having to acclimate to the change in social interactions due to COVID-19, one of the biggest challenges I face is deciding what career choice to pursue. As I have many options I am considering, I find it challenging to narrow down and select a single future path.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school, I plan on attending a private four year college, majoring in the natural sciences.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. While I admire many people, I believe Dr. Anthony Fauci deserves great accolades as a result of his scientific approach to advising the White House and informing the public about infectious diseases.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered at Emmaus High School for my sense of humor and leading karaoke in AP Chemistry.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Some advice I would like to pass on to the underclassmen at EHS is they should not take themselves so seriously and it is important to laugh at yourself and enjoy the simple things in life.
