The Rev. Dr. Jane S. Gaeta, 79, of Fountain Hill, died Feb. 9, 2022. She was the wife of The Rev. Dr. Gerard Gaeta for 57 years. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Stella (Misiur) Lubonieck.

She earned Master of Divinity, Master of Sacred Theology and Doctor of Ministry degrees.

She was a registered nurse in various hospitals in New Jersey, Ohio and Portland, Oregon. Later in life she was a Lutheran pastor, rostered in the Metropolitan New York, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She served parishes in the Metropolitan New York and New Jersey Synods, ELCA, and with the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem.

She was staff chaplain at St. Luke’s Hospital and at Amsterdam House, Manhattan, and Calvary Hospital, Bronx, both in New York. She was present and available at 9/11 Ground Zero. At the time, several ranking members of the New York City Fire Department were members of her Bayside, Queens congregation.

She was an instructor at George Mercer School of Theology (Episcopal), Garden City, New York, and was adjunct professor at The General Theological Seminary (Episcopal), New York City. She was a spiritual director for many. More recently, she was a Priest Associate at Trinity Episcopal Church, Bethlehem, where she provided a healing and spiritual care ministry.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, the Rev. Susan Gaeta and her husband Richard Vila; two grandchildren, Andrue Cooper and Grace M. Vila; and a brother, Steven Luboniecki.
