High school musicals schedules listed for Freddy Awards

The 20th anniversary of the Freddy Awards is to return as an in-person show, 7 p.m. May 26, State Theater Center for the Arts, Easton, and broadcast live on WFMZ television and website.

According to State Theatre Center for the Arts Freddy Awards Coordinator and Producer Jamie Balliet, there are 28 high schools in the Lehigh Valley and Warren County, N.J., participating in the 2022 Freddys.

Tickets are available now or soon for the productions. For ticket information, check websites of the schools.

The “High School Musicals” series with previews of shows at schools in the Press circulation areas begins Feb. 23 in the Focus section.

Here are musicals being presented that will be considered for the Freddy Awards:

· Northwestern Lehigh: “Bye, Bye, Birdie,” 7 p.m. March 3, 4, 5; 2 p.m. March 6

· Moravian Academy: “HMS Pinafore,” 7:30 p.m. March 4, 5; 2 p.m. March 6

· Easton Area: “42nd Street,” 7 p.m. March 4, 5; 1:30 p.m. March 5, 6

· Wilson Area: “The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy,” 7:30 p.m. March 4, 5; 2:30 p.m. March 6

· Northern Lehigh: “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” 7 p.m. March 10, 11,12; 2 p.m. March 13

· Southern Lehigh: “Bye, Bye, Birdie,” 7 p.m. March 16, 17, 18, 19; 2 p.m. March 20

· Saucon Valley: “Shrek: The Musical,” 7 p.m. March 17, 18, 19; 2 p.m. March 20
