Robert “Mike” Matrishin, 85, of Allentown, died on Feb. 2, 2022, surrounded by his loving family in his home.

He and his wife, Patrica R. (Eck) Matrishin, were married 61 years.

Born Sept. 20, 1936, in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Andrew and Esther (Chesh) Matrishin.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during a peacetime era.

He was a shipper at Grant/Fairtex Mills, Allentown, for 27 years before retiring.

Before that, he was a coal miner at Matrishin Mine, Morea, Schuylkill County.

An amazing grandfather and great-grandfather, he brought happiness and funny moments to all who were in his company.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, vacations, “bingo” scratch off lottery tickets, the Hallmark Channel, and especially all the moments he made people laugh. His heart was full of love.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Michael R. Matrishin (Sue) of Orefield, Richard M. Matrishin of Allentown, and Sandra J. Jacoby (Todd) of Fogelsville; grandchildren Austin, Dustin, Logan, Jennifer, Cole, Quinn and Emma; and great-grandson Walker.

He was predeceased by a sister, Veronica Leitner.
