Four former Liberty field hockey captains completed successful field hockey seasons in college this past fall.
Rayne Wright (‘20) helped lead Maryland Terrapins to the NCAA DI Final Four. She started every game in 2021 as part of the Terps’ backline, and earned academic All-Big Ten honors. She played in 15 games as a freshman starting 13 and was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, April 5, 2020.
Sadie Abboud (‘19) helped lead Johns Hopkins to a Centennial Conference Championship and the DIII championship game. In 2021 she played in all 23 games and started 22. She ranked fourth on the tam in goals with seven and assists with five as well as points with 19. She had a game-winning goal against ninth-ranked Salisbury and had two goals in a win at Randolph-Macon. From Sept. 29 to Oct. 13, a span of five games, Abboud recorded a point in each game.
Sammy Taylor (‘20) was on the Shippensburg University field hockey team that won the PSAC Championship and the DII National Championship. She played in three games this past fall and is also part of the swim team at Shipp.
Ellie Powers (‘21) played for Babson College who won the NEWMAC Conference Championship and played in the DIII Elite Eight. Powers played in 14 games including four starts this past season.
