For every month that has five Sundays, Troop 94 puts on a breakfast at American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., Catasauqua. At the events, Scouts serve a scrumptious meal of eggs, sausage, pancakes and more.
During the Jan. 30 event, they added in a twist: Krispy Kreme doughnuts were available for purchase, too.
The doughnut special was a fundraiser for Scout Timothy Cline, a Catasauqua High School junior, who is starting his journey to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
The plan, as Cline has it set up, is to have several food drive locations in Catasauqua and North Catasauqua boroughs and to create storage space at Catasauqua Community Food Bank, 527 Front St., as part of his Eagle Scout project.
The marketing and advertising plans are in place, he said.
“This is something that is for the entire area. We want all the boroughs and townships to support us,” Cline added.
Jillian Emert, a volunteer at the food bank and a member of Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education, is helping coordinate the effort. Cline has set a donation goal of 1,000 packages.
The project will end with a collection and celebration 9 a.m. March 26 at the pavilion at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.
