Second St. The artifact was manufactured by Sheffield/Fairbanks Morse for Lehigh & New England Railroad. The company's lines ran through the Colonial Industrial Quarter until it shuttered in the 1960s This car, #539 on the LNE roster, was used to move crew members along the lines. The unit is owned and was restored in late 2021 by the Volunteer Railroaders Association. The VRA, a group of New Jersey-based preservationists, purchased the rail car from a rail enthusiast in Minnesota. The seller was an Air Force veteran who formerly resided in Phillipsburg. The group plans to make model 40B speeder car operational. Contributions to help fund the preservation of the car can be made via a donation box at the exhibit in the museum's lobby or by contacting the museum. Visit vratrips.org for more rail information.
