Falcons Wrestling readies for postseason push

The Salisbury High School wrestling team has been competitive in its matches this season, even if it hasn’t finished with a victory just yet. Head coach Eric Snyder has scheduled quality matches for his team and has been satisfied with what he has seen out of his group.

“We are pleased with how the season is going so far,” said Snyder. “I think we got the kids some quality matches so far to better prepare them for the postseason. We struggled a little bit at the Montgomery tournament losing some matches we were winning, but overall, the kids have performed well so far.”

Snyder highlighted some of his top wrestlers thus far this season.

“John Samy at 132 has had a great season so far,” Snyder said. “He is 13-4 going into [last] weekend with his only losses to regional place winners or state place winners. He has had a lot of close matches and quality wins which will only help his postseason run.

“Ben Krauss at 215/285 has wrestled well at times but has to limit some of the mistakes he has made. If Ben does that, he will make a long postseason run. Carver Moyer at 120 has also wrestled well. He had a rough [Montgomery] tournament, but wrestled in a lot of close, tough matches that will only help him later on.”

The Falcons have two more regular season matches left before the postseason begins. This week, Salisbury hits the road to take on Southern Lehigh on Wednesday and Notre Dame (Green Pond) on Friday.

“The season is winding down with a little over a month left in the season,” said Snyder. “We want all the kids to continue to make improvements every day. We have some winnable matches coming up and if the kids continue to make these improvements, they will see a couple team wins.”

All of the Falcons lineup is expected to compete at individual districts. This includes Moyer at 120, Chloe Sandeen at 126, Samy at 132, Mason Holva at 145, Nathaniel Tone at 152, Toby Linn at 172, Ifrahim Ansari at 189, Ethan Sandford at 215 and Krauss at 285.
