Thomas I. Kern Jr., 93, of Alburtis, died Jan. 28, 2022, at Complete Care at Macungie. He was the husband of the late Glenna V. (Kolb) Kern, who died March 5, 2005. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Thomas I. Sr. and Stella (Wambold) Kern.

He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War and worked as a lithographer at the former Day-Timer® for 36 years until retiring.

He was a member of Alburtis Volunteer Fire Co. for 42 years, County Line 4x4 Club and Alburtis Rod and Gun Club.

He formerly served on Alburtis Borough Council.

He is survived by a son, Glenn D. Schantz and his wife, Diana; sisters, Sylvia Edmonds and Shirlene Werner; a granddaughter, Melissa Aiken; great-grandchildren, Alex and Lindsey Aiken. He was predeceased by a sister, Shirley and a brother, Terrence.

A viewing will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 3 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. A brief prayer service will follow.
