Ted Cruz visits Sporting Clays
Texas Senator Ted Cruz traveled to Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays, Ormrod, to endorse David McCormick in his effort to replace Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey.
Toomey is retiring at the end of his term in 2022, prompting a large turnout of Republicans opting into the May primary.
McCormick was hoping to raise his visibility with Cruz’s endorsement.
McCormick, a Bloomsburg native, left Bridgewater Associates, one of the world’s largest hedge funds to enter the political arena.
He graduated from West Point and served with the Army’s 82nd Airborne division in the first Gulf War.
McCormick has a doctorate in international affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University and recently bought a house in Pittsburgh to qualify for Pennsylvania residency as Connecticut has been his home since 2005.
He served in the George W. Bush administration as undersecretary of commerce, where he oversaw the Bureau of Industry and Security.
Both Cruz and McCormick criticized the Biden Administration for the pull out in Afghanistan, illegal immigration and for forgetting what the United States used to be.
