Latta “Sonny” J. Heil, 84, of Allentown, died Jan. 18, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Audrey E. Bixler.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Latta O. and Anna M. (Heberling) Heil.

He was a tool maker for more than 40 years for the former Western Electric and Agere before his retirement.

He was a member of the former St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and later of Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, both in Catasauqua. He sang in various church choirs.

He was a mason for Porter Lodge 284. He was a member of the Minstrelaires of Macungie and Catasauqua Area Showcase Theatre.

He is survived by a son, Jonathan L. and his wife Jessica; four daughters, Deborah Neihardt and her husband Samuel III, Jennifer Zanger and her husband John, Debra Mittura and her husband Marty and Diane Smith and her fiance Brian Ament; a brother, Richard C. Heil and his wife Joan; a sister, Mary Ann Hohe; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; extended family; and friends.

He was predeceased by a sister; and a stepgrandson, Scottie.
