EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Jeff and Trish, I also have a brother Jacob and a sister Maddie.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. This year my favorite class would have to be AP Art Studio. I enjoy working beside so many of my talented peers and getting to design and create my own projects.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am currently in National Honor Society and National German Honor Society. I have received a second place Keystone Press sports photography award and a silver key Scholastic ceramics award as well as recognition for excellence in engineering and principal’s honor roll. Athletically, I have been recognized as a member of the All-Area Track and Field All-Star Team, the MVP for EHS Track and Field and I was the Conference Champion in 300 meter hurdles last year.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I am the president of the winter track club, the photo editor of our school newspaper, The Stinger and a member of varsity cross-country and track. I am also a deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Allentown and a member of the social media committee, youth usher team and youth choir. For the most part, these activities were able to continue through COVID-19, most of them moving virtual. Unfortunately, our 2020 spring track season was canceled; however, we were able to return last year and had some huge successes as a team.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. Like many others, I struggled with virtual school. It was a difficult setting for me to learn in since it lacked the peer interactions that make school so enjoyable for me. I am very grateful to be going back in person for my senior year at EHS.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My next goal after high school is to attend college and earn a degree in biomedical engineering. I hope to study abroad and get a chance to explore the world and other communities in the process.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my parents. They have always extended patience and support to my siblings and I and helped us to achieve our goals.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I’d like to be remembered for my hard work and eagerness to help others.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Try new things! I never imagined I would be doing ceramics and photography in high school but they have both brought me so much joy.
