Coplay: Coplay Sports continues sign-ups

Coplay Sports is holding sign-ups noon-2 p.m. Feb. 12 and 16 and March 5 and 6-8 p.m. March 2 for the 2022 baseball season for ages 5-15. Sign-ups are at the Coplay Sports field house, 666 Potter Terrace.

Mayor Stephen J. Burker and his team are planning a winter celebration for this month, including a dedication of Coplay’s version of Big Ben, the new clock at Community Plaza.

More information will be announced soon.

Coplay Borough has a list of volunteers who will shovel snow for residents needing assistance with the task.

Call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to either have your name added to the available shovelers’ list or for more information.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is seeking volunteers to make pierogies.

Contact the church at 610-262-2417 to join the team.

The church is also in need of volunteers for the summer picnic held the first Sunday in August.

St. Peter’s plans to offer companion niche ossuariums to church members for placement of remains at the cemetery on Hokendauqua Street. They are slated to be offered this month and are touted as less costly than a casket burial.

Coplay Food Bank is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month. The food bank is located in the lower level of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.

If unable to attend the Tuesday-morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

Coplay Athletic Club is under new management and is seeking new and renewal members. The gym is located on the second floor of the municipal building.

A gym membership costs $90 per year and $80 for renewals.
