Carl V. Pape, 71, of Macungie, died Jan. 28, 2022, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown campus. Born in New York City, he was the son of Carmella A. (Rucireta) Pape and the late Carl T. Pape.
He was a 1969 graduate of Emmaus High School.
He worked in the dietary department at Lehigh Valley Hospital, 17th and Chew and later Cedar Crest for 38 years, retiring in 2019. After retirement, he worked for Ink Glorious Tattoo Shop, Northampton.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus.
He was active with the Macungie VFW and Macungie Memorial Park, where he volunteered his time for many years.
He was an avid bowler, avid Yankees fan and avid Rams fan. He was an assistant softball coach for the Pub Crawlers, Krocks Sports Bar and Lower Macungie Softball. Known as a people person, he loved to tell jokes.
He is survived by his mother; a sister, Tessa Marie and her husband, Scott Masiado, of Macungie; brothers, Judd M., of Coopersburg and Michael and his wife, Patricia, of Kingman, Ariz.; nieces, Kelsy, Taylor, Brook, Ashleigh, Erin and Brandi; a nephew, Shannon.
Contributions may be made in his memory to Lehigh County Humane Society, 640 Dixon St., Allentown, 18103.
Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Feb. 2 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. A viewing will be 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Masks will be required at the funeral home.
