American Legion hosts live music

Joe Kovacs, a representative with Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., has been keen to start the live band circuit at the Post.

“This is something that our members asked about, and we wanted to see how we can get the ball rolling,” he said.

The talent search was on. Catasauqua Borough has a summer concert series program, but Kovacs and others thought it was time to look for entertainment during the cold winter months in anticipation of spring.

Kim Bydlon came calling. She and her band - Kim and the Clairvoyants - were looking for a gig due to the COVID-19 pandemic making performances difficult to schedule. Other band members include Kyle Yankowy on bass, Matt Runkle on guitar and Luke Wolk on drums. They performed Jan. 15 at the Post.

Bydlon has an impressive background. She was reportedly in a round of “American Idol.” Feel free to ask her about the 16-hour wait for the audition.

Additionally, she was a soloist for Lehigh Carbon Community College when former President Barack Obama visited the area.

One may also remember her dad, Bob Bydlon, a high school teacher who had football coaching stints for Catasauqua and Nazareth area school districts.
