Food bank benefits from ‘Giving ‘ event

The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail recently presented Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley in Nazareth with a donation of $600 as the result of its November event, “Giving Before Thanks.” The third annual event invited wine lovers to bring a nonperishable food donation to each winery on the trail (five wineries) and in return receive a complimentary three-wine tasting at each winery. The food was donated to the food pantry at New Bethany Ministries and the Portland Upper Mount Bethel Food Pantry in the Slate Belt. Also as part of the event, the wine trail offered to donate $1 per pound of donated food to Second Harvest. The total weight of this year's donated food items was approximately 600 lbs., so the Wine Trail made this $600 donation to Second Harvest. The members of the wine trail are Black River Farms, Blue Mountain Vineyards, Franklin Hill Vineyards, Tolino Vineyards, and Vynecrest.
