Ruth M. Kemp, 94, of Topton, died on Jan. 18, 2022, in The Lutheran Home at Topton.
She and her late husband Harry L. Kemp were married almost 68 years before he died in 2019.
Born in South Whitehall Township, she was a daughter of the late Edward M. and Emma (Grammes) Guth.
She graduated from South Whitehall High School in 1945, was accepted to the last class of the Army Nurse Cadet Corps and graduated from the former Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1948.
She then went to Oklahoma and worked for the Indian Hospital Services.
That is where she met her husband who was a registered Chickasaw Indian.
When they moved back to Pennsylvania, she went on to work for Trexler Nursing Services for several years and was also a private duty nurse from 1963 to 1995.
She was co-owner of Personal Tours of the Lehigh Valley for many years.
Part of the Hayseed Players, she performed plays in Pa. Dutch Dialect, even traveling to Germany to perform.
A member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield, she was on church council for many years.
She was very involved in planning the Lehigh Valley Bicentennial Celebration.
Her survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son James E.; and siblings Arlene Fegley, Verna Stebbins, Alma Fronheiser, Rena Duddek and Marcus Guth.
