Letter to the editor: Citizens deserve relief from school property taxes

To the Editor:

It’s that time again in Pennsylvania. Our state politicians are planning for re-election, and many of them in both parties say that lowering school property taxes are a priority for them.

Remember when gambling came to Pennsylvania, and we were told it would lower our school property taxes? Well, that was one of many lies about lowering our school property taxes. The only time they say anything about school property taxes is when they want our vote to stay in office.

They lie to us, we know they lie, they know that we know they lie, and they still lie. The worst part of this is people still believe the lie.

The latest reported insult is the state giving the Jaindl company $2.1 million to redevelop the Mary Immaculate Seminary property in Lehigh Township. Apparently, the rich still get handouts, and the rest of us can’t get any tax relief.
