Coplay: Borough has list of shovelers

Coplay Borough has a list of volunteers who will shovel snow for residents who need assistance with the task.

Call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to either have your name added to the available shovelers’ list or for more information.

Mayor Stephen J. Burker and his team are planning a winter celebration in February, including a dedication of Coplay’s version of Big Ben, the new clock at Community Plaza.

More information will be announced soon.

Feb. 2 is just around the corner. The day celebrates Groundhog Day, the Catholic St. Brigid’s feast day and a pagan day of celebration called Imbolc. Choose your celebration!

Coplay Sports is holding sign-ups noon-2 p.m. Jan. 29, Feb. 12 and 16 and March 5 and 6-8 p.m. Feb. 2 and March 2 for the 2022 baseball season for ages 5-15.

Sign-ups are at the Coplay Sports field house, 666 Potter Terrace.

For those who ordered a chicken potpie dinner, pickup will be 4-5:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St. Donations are accepted.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has an special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St. Worn-out American flags can be deposited into the mailbox for the Post to properly dispose of the flags.

If you catch a feral, stray cat, call the Sanctuary at Haafsville at 484-894-3401. Volunteers will assist you in placing the cat for a fee.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church plans to offer companion niche ossuariums to church members for placement of remains at the cemetery on Hokendauqua Street. They are slated to be offered in February and are touted as less costly than a casket burial.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the Coplay Municipal Building, 98 S. Fourth St., is open the second Tuesday of every month from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

If you are unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday-morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The Coplay Senior Citizens group meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Commitment to Family and Community, 165 Cherry St.
