Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine

Nemes receives degree

Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine conferred a Master of Biomedical Sciences degree upon Kaitlyn Nemes, of Northampton, and other students who composed the school’s second cohort of the MBS Class of 2021. Commencement ceremonies were held virtually Dec. 18, 2021.

The following Lehigh Carbon Community College students were recently inducted into Alpha Omicron Alpha, the college’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, the national honor society for two-year colleges.

Phi Theta Kappa is the only nationally-acclaimed honor society serving two-year colleges, which offers associate degree programs. Membership into Phi Theta Kappa is by invitation only. To be considered, a student must be enrolled in an associate degree program, have completed at least 12 credit hours of coursework, have established a minimum grade-point average of 3.5, have established a record of academic excellence as judged by the faculty, be of good moral character and possess recognized qualities of citizenship.

Bob Jones University

Nevin named to president’s list

Caleb Nevin, a freshman engineering major from Walnutport, was among approximately 660 Bob Jones University students named to the fall 2021 president’s list. The president’s list recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher GPA for the semester.

Dean’s list is announced

Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania congratulates the more than 2,000 students who were named to the fall 2021 dean’s list. A full-time student whose semester GPA is 3.5 or higher in 12 or more semester hours of course work for which a grade or grades are received are named to the dean’s list.

Harding University

Morse named to dean’s list

Grace Morse, a junior studying communication sciences and disorders from Whitehall, is among more than 1,200 Harding University students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the fall 2021 semester. The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, university provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher GPA and no incompletes.

Harding University is a private Christian, liberal arts university located in Searcy, Ark. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, it is the largest private university in the state. Harding’s student body represents students from across the United States and more than 50 nations and territories. The university offers more than 100 undergraduate majors, more than 15 preprofessional programs and more than 40 graduate and professional programs, as well as numerous study abroad opportunities including locations in Australasia, Peru, England, Greece, Italy and Zambia.

Edinboro University

Kurpiewski earns dean’s list

Erica Nicole Kurpiewski, of Whitehall, was named to the dean’s list at Edinboro University for the fall 2021 semester. Kurpiewski was among nearly 1,000 students named to the fall 2021 dean’s list. In order to attain this highly regarded academic honor, students must maintain a quality-point average of 3.4 or higher, complete a minimum of 12 semester hours of credit and receive no grade lower than a C in any course.

Slippery Rock University

Students named to dean’s list

Austen Hochstrasser and Andrew Huymaier, both of Northampton, have made the dean’s list at Slippery Rock University for the fall 2021 semester. The dean’s list consists of SRU undergraduate students who earned an adjusted semester GPA of 3.5 or higher, based on a schedule of at least 12 newly attempted and earned credits.

Slippery Rock University, located in western Pennsylvania, was founded in 1889. The university is a member of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education and is shaped by its normal school heritage and characterized by its commitment to intellectual development, leadership and civic responsibility. Coastal Carolina University

Blount named to president’s list

Nearly 1,000 students were named to the president’s list at Coastal Carolina University for the fall 2021 semester, including Aja Blount, a communication major from Northampton.
