‘Home Alone’top tree in HBMS contest
Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites (HBMS) has announced the winners of the Trees of Historic Bethlehem: Cinematic Trees decorating contest. The Trees of Historic Bethlehem display is a time-honored tradition in Bethlehem. This year each tree was decorated by Bethlehem Garden Club members and other volunteers to reference classic holiday movies.
First place went to the “Home Alone” tree decorated by the McKenzie family. The Second Place Tree winner was “Miracle on 34th Street” decorated by HBMS volunteers Maria Fernandez and Betsy Fisher. The Third Place Tree is “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” decorated by Bethlehem Garden Club members Nancy Caldwell and Sally Roe.
“The Trees of Historic Bethlehem is one of our favorite Christmas traditions,” Kay McKenzie said of her experience decorating the winning tree. “Getting to decorate a tree this year was a thrill for us. We’re glad to know everyone enjoyed our take on ‘Home Alone.’ Come see what we come up with next year.”
There were 27 Trees of Historic Bethlehem decorated and located across five historical sites, including the Kemmer Museum of Decorative Arts, the Moravian Museum, Single Sisters’ House, Luckenbach Mill and 1810 Goundie House. HBMS saw over 700 visitors for the popular, annual tour. Visitors were asked to vote for their favorite trees with slips of paper by each tree and the votes were tallied after the closing of the exhibit Jan. 9.
In addition to thanking the hard-working volunteers who made the creative displays, HBMS thanks the sponsors who helped make this event possible in 2021:
