Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My parents are Mary Kay and Jeff, my brothers are Colin and Jackson. I have a dog named Venus.
Q. What is your favorite subject?
A. My favorite subject is science, specifically biology. I loved my honors biology class in 10th grade and had a great experience with my teacher. I am now in AP biology and love it. My teacher makes it very interesting.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. Yes: National Honor Society, Principal’s Honor Roll, AAU Academic All American, EPC Volleyball First Team All-Conference, Academic Excellence Award.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?
A. Yes, I play volleyball for Emmaus and East Coast Power volleyball club. I am a Hornet Ambassador and have been a member of Key Club and Spanish Club before. COVID-19 has affected these activities by preventing in-person club meetings and canceling club tournaments and games. My high school team was not allowed to play teams outside of our conference last year and cut the number of games we played significantly.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date happened recently. During our district quarterfinals game, I dislocated my shoulder. It was challenging because I missed out on playing my last high school volleyball game, got injured and will have to take time to recover and rehab. I know it will only help me grow and become a stronger player and person as I work hard to get back out on the court once I am cleared to play.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. After high school, I will be attending Saint Francis University (PA) to play D1 volleyball. I will be in the 3+3 health sciences to DPT program so I can become a physical therapist.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. I admire my first volleyball coach, Coach Frank. He helped me learn the game and showed me how fun it is. He had a unique coaching style and I learned a lot from him.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered as being hard-working and ambitious.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Get involved, it is a great way to meet new people and find new activities you enjoy.
