John L. Franssen, 93, of Allentown, died on Jan. 14, 2022, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He and his wife, Janice L. (Long) Franssen, were married 35 years this month.
Born in Morristown, N.J., he was a son of the late John and Gladys (Lyon) Franssen.
A graduate of Rider College, Lawrenceville, N.J., he was a service manager for Simplex Time Recorder Co., Allentown, for 45 years.
A ham radio operator and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years, he loved to play bridge.
He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Robert J. Franssen (Debra) of Millersville, John L. Jr. (Margo) of Midlothian, Va., and Donna M. Barnum (John) of Allentown; stepsons Kevin D. Minnich (Tina) of Slatington, and Kurt C. Minnich of Kempton; brother William G. Franssen (Virginia) of South Montrose; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
