John L. Verbos, 82, formerly of Bressler and more recently of Bethlehem, died on January 14, 2022. Born in Harrisburg of Croatian heritage, he was a son of the late Frank and Catherine (Musa) Verbos. He was the husband of Teresa Y. (Benkovic) Verbos for 62 years.
He was an Harrisburg Catholic HS graduate.
He worked in the quality control department of Victaulic Company of America.
He was a parishioner of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church.
He was a member of St. Lawrence CFU Lodge #13, Friendship Fire Company of Bressler and the Kolo Club Marian where he played, sang, danced and taught music. He traveled to many places including the Croatian Consulate and Basilica in Washington, D.C ., to perform.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Diane Smith, John L. Jr. (Sandy) and Patricia Horn (Chris); a sister, Rosemary Verbos; three grandchildren, Alyssa Horn, John Verbos III and CJ Horn; and two great-grandchildren, Payton and Hadleigh Verbos.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Anne.
Contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in honor of his wife, Teresa.
