Taylor Hicks performed Bob Seger classics and more in “Night Moves,” 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13, Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling, ArtsQuest Center, SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Hicks won Season Five on TV’s “American Idol.” His debut single, “Do I Make You Proud,” entered at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Pop 100 and Singles sales charts. His self-titled album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. In 2007, Hicks wrote his autobiography, “Heart Full of Soul.” The Birmingham, Ala., native started in “Grease” on Broadway and in the national tour. In June 2012, he began a residency at Bally’s Las Vegas. In 2017, Hicks premiered his song, “Six Strings and Diamond Rings.” Attendees must wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status. Diana Jones, 8 p.m. Jan. 14, Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. Fourth St., Bethlehem. Jones is a songwriter and folksinger whose “clarion alto,” The New York Times has stated, evokes the “rich timbres … of a cello or viola.” Her first album was “Imagine Me” (1997). Among eight albums, her latest is “Song to a Refugee” (2020). Jones has won songwriting contests, including the “New Folk” competition at the 2006 Kerrville Folk Festival. Her song, “Pony,” received “Song of the Year” from the North American Folk Alliance and was No. 15 on the 2006 year-end Folk Radio Airplay Chart. In 2008, Joan Baez released a recording of Jones’ “Henry Russell’s Last Words” on her album, “Day After Tomorrow.” Jones, of Nashville, Tenn., was praised by Baez for music that is “haunting” and “powerful.” Tickets: https://godfreydaniels.org; 610-867-2390
Bobby Syvarth & Friends, 8 p.m. Jan. 15, Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. Fourth St., Bethlehem. Syvarth, a Brooklyn native raised in northwestern New Jersey, is a songwriter, recording artist and producer. Joining him on stage will be Joe Cirotti, guitar; Wayne Lyle, bass; Damian Calcagne, keyboard, and Dave Deriso, drums. As a guitarist, Syvarth has performed with Latin artist Marc Anthony in New York City at the United Nations’ “Gala Awards Dinner Honoring Unsung Heroes of Poverty Eradication,” which also featured Roberta Flack and Anoushka Shankar. At Godfrey’s attendees must be vaccinated with required doses at least two weeks prior to a concert. Vaccination card, copy or legible image on phone, and valid photo ID must be shown at door. If not vaccinated, proof of negative COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen; no “at home” test) within 48 hours prior to concert must be shown at door. Face masks must be worn.
