Liberty’s swim team rang in the new year with a 117-43 victory for the girls and a 120-45 victory for the boys over East Stroudsburg South on Jan. 5 at Liberty.
Julia Pinter, Chelsea Hearn, Brooke Sergent, and Sydney Taylor opened the meet with a 2:08.47 win in the 200 medley relay. Patrick Gilhool, Malcolm Collins, David Gabrielle, and Jacob Scheirer followed up with a boys medley relay win in 1:45.82.
Later in the meet, Monica Bruno, Georgia Kounoupis, Sophia O’Hara, and Katie Bruno combined to win the 200 free relay in 1:58.30, and the boys foursome of Jacob Scheirer, Collins, Wade Wu, and Gilhool won the same relay in 1:36.67.
In individual events, Sergent surged to first place in both the 100 butterfly, with a time of 1:02.25, and the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.75.
Monica Bruno was also a double winner in individual events, touching first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:21.10 and the 100 free in 1:03.63.
Hearn won the 50 free in 28.51, and Keller Pooley was the diving champ with a score of 199.85.
Caleb Stein led the way in a sweep of individual events for the Hurricane boys when he won the first individual race, the 200 free, with a time of 2:00.29.
Addison Collins won dual events: the 200 IM in 2:00.57 and the 100 fly in 54.62, as did Danny Lehr, who sprinted to first in the 50 free with a time of 23.31 and the 100 free with a time of 51.46.
Tim Wetmore was the distance winner, finishing the 500 free in 5:18.97, Corbin Eisenhardt clinched first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.93, and Malcolm Collins finished the clean sweep with a win in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.58.
