PRESS PHOTO BY DEBBIE GALBRAITH Volunteer firefighters from area fire departments are dispatched to a fire in the 900 block of Sour Apple Lane Jan. 5 for a possible chimney fire. Eastern Salisbury Fire Department Chief Ian Dodson arrived on scene and confirmed an active chimney fire and assisted with removing a wheelchair bound occupant from the home. An engine from Eastern Salisbury Fire Department arrived shortly after and deployed one hand line inside the front door while another crew went to the roof. Once all the wood was removed from the fireplace, crews worked to extinguish the fire in the chimney. Crews remained on scene for about two hours before the call was placed under control and the property was turned back over to the owner. There were no injuries. Volunteer firefighters from Eastern Salisbury Fire Department, Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company, Fountain Hill Fire Department, Lower Saucon Fire Department and Alburtis Fire Company (Lower Macungie) as well as St. Luke's EMS and the Salisbury Police Department also were on the scene.
