Winter Safe Driving week is Jan. 9-15, so here are some tips to help you properly prepare for safe traveling:

·Check the 511PA website or app for road and weather conditions, delays, and detours. Also check weather conditions for your destination as well.

·Remove ice and snow completely from all the windows, roof, hood, and trunk of your vehicle.

·Have a winter emergency kit stocked and, in your vehicle, to include a blanket, flashlight with batteries, nonperishable food, water, etc. If you travel with children or pets, have supplies for them as well.

·Do a vehicle check that all lights are working, tire pressure and treads are correct, and all fluids are full.

·Always make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly buckled up.

During inclement weather only travel if necessary and pay attention for any travel restrictions that may go into effect.

Remember to give yourself plenty of extra travel time to get to your destination safely.
