Betty J. Kern, 92, of Walnutport, died Dec. 24, 2021, at Cedarbrook, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late Russel F. Kern.
Born in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Earl D. and Lillian M. (Muth) Smoyer.
She was last employed as a sewing machine operator for the former Hi-Torque Fashions of Slatington for five years before retiring in 1991. Earlier, she worked in the same capacity for ADJ Fashions, Cherryville, and the former Scotty’s Fashions, Treichlers, for many years.
She is survived by a son, Darrel F. and his wife Tink of Leland, N.C.; three daughters, Ina J. McDonald of Wilmington, N.C., Kaye A. of Walnutport and Tina A. and her husband Scott Williams of Overland Park, Kan.; a brother, Lamont Smoyer and his wife Izene of Schnecksville; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Terence R.; a granddaughter, Stacey; and two brothers.
Arrangements were made by the Schisler Funeral Home Inc., Northampton.
