Souper Bowl is on!
ArtsQuest is proud to offer guests a chance to sample the best of the Lehigh Valley, one spoonful at a time, during Souper Bowl XII. This culinary experience will take place from noon - 3 p.m., Feb. 6 in the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café, presented by Yuengling. General admission tickets will start at $32 for ArtsQuest members and $36 for the public. VIP Tasting Tickets will also be available for purchase on steelstacks.org.
These passes will include early entry into the venue, a free drink ticket for any Yuengling beer, wine from Franklin Hills Vineyards, or a soft drink, plus automatic entry into a VIP only raffle for a chance to win a yearlong pass to the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas and a Yuengling beer cooler.
This event, returning for its 12th year, will feature creations from some of the top restaurateurs in the region. A panel of expert and celebrity judges will choose the best vegan, seafood-based, cream-based, meat-based, most surprising ingredient and most original creations. Guests will also choose who wins the coveted “People’s Choice” award. This event will also feature a live performance from Lehigh Valley-based jazz-blues band, Dolcetto Trio. Attendees can also enter a raffle for a chance to win gift cards donated by the participating restaurants.
So far, this list of restaurants includes: The View at Morgan Hill, Daisy Hill Kitchen and Grill, Hampton Winds Restaurant - NCC Culinary Arts Department, Molly’s Irish Grille and Sports Pub, Forks Mediterranean Deli, Roasted, Joe’s Tavern and Palette & Pour, the new full-service bar and quick-service kitchen located on the first floor of the ArtsQuest Center. Any restaurants interested in participating must fill out a form by Jan. 19, to reserve a station at this popular event.
The Bethlehem Area Vocational -Technical School Culinary Arts student team, led by Instructors Lawrence Fortunato and Scott Ferry, will work to defend their two-time “People’s Choice” title at this year’s event.
“This is a great opportunity for students to get out in the community and show what we are doing is a viable career path,” Fortunato said. “We love to showcase the success of our students.”
In 2019, the student team whipped up a pumpkin bisque with smoked gouda. In 2020 the team brought home the Souper Bowl Spoon for a second year in a row by using the same fall flavor flair for a brand-new creamy maple bacon sweet potato soup.
“If we keep winning, I told the administration we are going to need a trophy case,” Fortunato said.
