The Bethlehem Mounted Police Patrol added another four-legged officer at the ‘Holiday with the Horses' open house Dec. 12, which was held at the Quadrant Private Wealth stable facility. Mason, a 5-year-old half Percheron and half Belgian steed weighs over 1,900 pounds and stands over 17 hands tall, making him the largest horse in the unit and largest officer on the force. He received his badge, name tag and Bethlehem star rosette in a brief ceremony. Mason has been undergoing training since August and was donated by Larry Heinrich and his adopt-a-horse-sponsors are Karen and James McIntyre. His partner is officer Mark Kuntzman.
