Municipal notes

BETHLEHEM WASTE FACILITY: The Bethlehem Yard Waste Facility re-opened Jan. 3.

Effective immediately, Theis/Cornfeld Recycling Center, 635 Illick’s Mill Road, will not be accepting any Styrofoam materials. They hope this change is temporary and will advise once they begin accepting Styrofoam materials again. Thank you for your understanding and continued patronage.

BETHLEHEM CITY HALL: Reopened Jan. 3.

GRACEDALE AWARD: Lamont McClure and the administrators at Gracedale Nursing Home announced recently that AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania Community Health Choices has awarded an additional $94,388.49 for the good work on quality measures. This one-time payment for SNF Quality Enhancement Programs is passed on the facility’s performance on benchmarks related to percentage of (1) high-risk long-stay residents with pressure ulcers; (2) long-stay residents assessed and appropriately given the pneumococcal vaccine; (3) long-stay residents assessed and appropriately given the seasonal influenza vaccine; (4) long-stay residents experiencing one or more falls with major injury; and (5) short-stay residents who were re-hospitalized after a nursing home admission.

SCAM WARNING: The Northampton County Sheriff’s Department has received reports about an individual contacting residents and claiming to be Lt. Rich Johnson. Said individual then states there is a warrant out for the resident’s arrest and that they need to pay via a bank check or a money order otherwise they will be immediately arrested.

This is a scam intended to defraud our residents. The Sheriff’s Department does not call residents and solicit money in lieu of arrest.

Please report any suspicious solicitations to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office at 800-441-2555 or email them at scams@attorneygeneral.gov
