Andrew G. Jenkins, 47, of Allentown, died Dec. 25, 2021, after a short bout with COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated.
Born and raised in West Allentown, he was the son of Linda and George Jenkins.
A 1992 graduate of William Allen High School, he excelled in football and wrestling.
He was a district and regional champion at 171 pounds and placed second in the state tournament, losing by one point in overtime.
He attended James Madison University on a wrestling scholarship, then transferred to Moravian University on a football scholarship and was named to ALL MAC first-team at noseguard.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Moravian and a Master’s degree in education from Wilkes University.
A teacher in the North Penn School District, he taught at Pennfield Middle School for 15 years.
He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena Catholic Church.
A lifelong fan of the Yankees and Steelers, he proudly shared an extensive collection of ’70s and ’80s memorabilia.
His witty and whimsical sense of humor will forever have friends and family laughing and made him a favorite of his loving nieces.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by fiancee Andrea Buckno; brother Jason and partner Renee Benner; sister Laurie Smith and husband, Michael; and nieces Bailey Bourgeois, Quinn Jenkins and Lola Smith; and his 8-year-old Newfoundland “Reagan.”
