Julia Yeakel, 88, of Macungie, died Dec. 26, 2021, surrounded by family. She was the wife of William H. Yeakel. They celebrated 67 years of marriage in September. Born in Macungie, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Sophie (Hartzun) Lazor.
She graduated from Emmaus High School, Class of 1951.
She was raised in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Allentown. She was a member of Old Zionsville UCC, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
She is survived by her husband; children, Patricia Mittl (James), Peter, Deborah Gurgick (Anthony), Barbara Kerchner (Marvin); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosalie Onushco (Michael). She was predeceased by brothers, John, Michael, Peter, Steven and Charles Lazor; sisters, Mary Wassum, Kathryn Lazor and Anna Stahl.
Contributions may be made to the church.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 31, at Old Zionsville UCC, 5981 Fountain Road, Zionsville. A calling hour will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Dec. 31 in the church. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Emmaus.
