Edward Bruchak

Edward Bruchak, 85, of Catasauqua, died Dec. 21, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Eugenia D. (Brennan) Bruchak.

Born in Emmaus, he was a son of the late John and Julia (Stashitsky) Bruchak.

He was a Northampton High School graduate. He continued at Kutztown University. He earned a master’s degree from Lehigh University.

He was an elementary school teacher in Quakertown and Richland Township, where he was an athletic coach. Upon relocating to Durham, N.C., he worked with Duke University on the individualized mathematics system. He was then an assistant principal at Milford Middle School, Delaware. He was a principal at Sheckler Elementary School, Catasauqua, for 28 years before he retired.

He was a member of the Catasauqua Area School Board. He was a member and president of the Elementary Principals Association of Pennsylvania.

He was a member of Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Catasauqua.

He is survived by a son, Edward Brennan and fiancee Rhonda David; two daughters, Katrina Zalatan and Tamara Gary; six grandchildren, Caitlyn, Meghan, Chelsea, Matthew, Michael and Benjamin; a sister, Maryann Mellen; a brother, Paul Bruchak and his wife Sachiko; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, John Bruchak.

Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Dec. 30 in the funeral home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Dec. 31 at the church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua.
