Richard Carl “Sonny” Kern, 65, of Slatington, died Nov. 30, 2021, at home.

He was a son of the late Ralph S. and Marlene M. (Eberwein) Kern.

A member of Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington, and Diamond Fire Company, Walnutport, he was a life member of Star Hose Co., No. 1, Emerald.

He was the first Eagle Scout at Milton Hershey School from which he graduated.

He was employed for several years by Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corp., Nesquehoning.

His survivors include daughters Monica and Erica; brother Randy D. and his wife, Carol Kern, and James G. Kern; sister Debbie Arndt and a grandchild.

Arrangements were made by Kevin E. Hunsicker Funeral Home Inc., Slatedale.
