Betty LaRue Rex Edwards, 87, of Slatington, died Dec. 13, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
Born March 27, 1934, in Slatington, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Ida Minerva (Delong) Peters.
She was the wife of the late Clifford Edwards, who died in 2010. They were married for 22 years.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and for her love of doing for others.
Passionate about country music, she passed that love on to all her children.
She sang and played with several local country-western bands, including the Earl Keller Band, the Lehigh Valley Ramblers, and the Reichard Brothers Band.
Most of all, she simply enjoyed her home, family and two cats.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli.
Her survivors include loving children Gordon Rex (Lynne), Sandra (Rex) Masters, Linda (Rex) Fenstermaker, Gary Rex and Terry Rex (Lisa); 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law June Peters; a “brother,” Donald G. Peters; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her dear friend, Peggy Salash Kehres, with whom she shared many adventures.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a future date.
