The final December date for the Northampton Area Food Bank, 1601 Canal St., is 9:30-11:45 a.m. Dec. 22 for registration, inquiries, donation drop-offs and produce pickup.

Bring a picture ID with a current address or an ID with a bill with the correct address. You should reside in the Northampton Area School District or check with the food bank Wednesday mornings.

You will need names and birth dates of everyone living with you full time.

The food bank will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 2, 2022. It will reopen Jan. 3, 2022.

If at any time, the distribution dates need to be canceled or changed due to inclement weather, listen to WFMZ on the radio, Channel 69 News on television or at Home of the Northampton Area Food Bank on Facebook for rescheduled dates and times.

The borough’s municipal building, 1401 Laubach Ave., will be closed Dec. 23 and 24 in observance of Christmas.

The office will reopen for business Dec. 27.

Northampton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 is seeking veterans willing to serve on its honor guard. The honor guard provides military honors, when requested by families, at veterans’ funerals, memorial services and celebrations of life.

According to the VFW, the ceremony exemplifies the “paying of respect and the final demonstration of the country’s gratitude to those who, in times of war and peace, have faithfully defended our nation.”

Veterans interested in hearing more about joining the honor guard are asked to call 610-216-8952. No experience is necessary.
