LaRue “Betty” George, 92, of Anniston, Ala., and formerly of Walnutport, died Dec. 6, 2021, at her son’s home. She was the wife of the late Howard O. George Jr. for 69 years.

Born in Slatington, she was a daughter of the late George Jr. and Myrtle (Roberts) Vogel.

She was a trimmer for the former D’Ville Garment Company, Danielsville, for 15 years before retiring in 1972. She then was a lunch lady at the Northampton High School for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Dwight F. George and his wife Chun Ling of Anniston, Ala., and Keith H. George of Houtzdale; two daughters, Donna L. Nonnemacher of Allentown and Lynn M. and her husband John Farkas III of Laurys Station; a son-in-law, Claude Missmer of Bethlehem; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda G. Missmer; and a grandson.

Services will be private.
