Douglas R. Holmes, 74, of North Catasauqua, died Oct. 18, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara (Tolan) Holmes for 53 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Kenneth Sr. and Thelma “Sis” (Gillespie) Holmes.

He was a 1964 graduate of Catasauqua High School.

He was in the U.S. Army and spent more than a year in Vietnam.

He was a truck driver and was retired from Tucker Burke Provisions Company, Catasauqua. Earlier, he worked for Phoenix Forge, Catasauqua, and Mack Trucks, Allentown.

He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Whitehall.

He was a member and president of the CHS Booster Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Todd and his wife Gina; a brother, Kenneth Holmes Jr. and his wife Carol; and two granddaughters, Ella and Brooke Holmes.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Tracy Holmes.
