CWSA offers sentiments on death of chairman

During Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority’s Dec. 16 meeting, heartfelt sentiments were expressed by Joseph Marx and James Hahn in regard to the death of John Schreiner Jr., the current CWSA chairman, who died Dec. 12.

A period of silence was held to honor Schreiner.

Marx, community affairs officer, proposed the purchase of a dogwood tree to be planted at Coplay Cemetery in Schreiner’s memory.

A motion was made to accept the CWSA 2022 operating and capital improvement budget with no rate increase. The motion was carried.

Reappointments for 2022 were introduced for solicitor, Andrew Schantz of Davison & McCarthy Law Firm; engineering firm, T&M Associates; and accounting firm, Buckno Lisicky & Company. The solicitor reappointment was approved. The engineering and accountant firm reappointments were tabled until January 2022 pending rate reviews.

A motion was also made and accepted for CWSA to donate $100 to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Lehigh Valley Chapter.

In other news, Matt Harleman, general manager, reported the delivery of the generator for the Eberhart pumping station is completed and the startup was scheduled to take place Dec. 20.

CWSA board meeting dates for 2022 were accepted. The meetings will continue on the third Thursday of each month.

Secretary Paul Geissinger proposed borrowing $749,000 at the rate of 2.1 percent or less to pay the debt obligation to Lehigh County Authority. The motion was approved.
